Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and expanding our market presence within the commercial construction industry. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities: Continuously seek out potential clients and markets for expansion to drive business growth and sales.
- Increase Business Revenue and Brand Presence: Identify, develop, and present marketing opportunities to the managerial team and investors to expand the company’s presence and brand power.
- Conduct Customer Meetings and Deliver Sales Pitches: Set up meetings both onsite and at the office to deliver persuasive sales pitches aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
- Generate Leads and Collaborate for Contract Closures: Generate multiple leads, contribute to sales plans, and collaborate with estimators and the construction operations team for business partnerships and contract closures.
- Evaluate and Analyze Market Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, market demands, and competitor strategies to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
- Develop and Implement Business Strategies: Create and execute effective business strategies to enhance the organization’s market position and increase competitive advantage.
- Select and Implement Automation Software: Choose appropriate automation software and platforms essential for business operations.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3–5 years of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, finance, or administration within the local construction industry. Experience working across heavily matrixed organizations, requiring strong influencing and collaboration skills.
- Skills: Polished and professional written and oral communication skills are essential, with a deep understanding of construction business strategy and market dynamics.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and other construction-based software.
- Analytical and Numerical Skills: Ability to interpret market data, read architectural drawings, and possess basic math skills.
- Initiative: A proactive approach to seeking new business opportunities, driving sales, and making informed decisions.
- Networking: Competent networker with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
Position Focus
The Business Development Director will primarily focus on leveraging existing industry relationships and knowledge to expand our footprint in the construction sector. This includes taking a hands-on approach to understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions.
